Throughout 2013-2015, I was searching for a way to create a youth choral ensemble. I sought advise from colleagues involved in music education who were discouraging at best, telling me that there was simply no need for another such ensemble. I knew I could make it happen but I was struggling with ideas about how this new ensemble would be unique when I received a letter from a student. Among the many inspirational things she wrote, one phrase stood out and changed everything. She wrote: “singing in an all female, women-led ensemble was empowering” and changed the way she thought about herself and her abilities. It was my light bulb moment. Buffalo Composer Finalist in CINTAS Foundation Composer Fellowship for 2018-2019  in Miami Miami, August 2018 – The CINTAS Foundation announces this year’s finalists for the annual CINTAS Fellowship Competition and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. A reception and awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 10th, at the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum. An exhibition featuring works by each of the finalists will be on exhibit at the Lowe Art Museum beginning on Wednesday, October 3rd. Students will work on developing individual songs while working on fun and challenging music songwriting exercises that will develop music writing skills. Buffalo New York Queen City Sweethearts Singing Ensemble Brings Cheer this Holiday Season "The nearly one-hundred-year old vaulted ceilings of the community room of St. Mary’s Senior Apartments reverberated with an amazing sound last evening. Queen City Sweethearts blended their songs into each and every carefully phrased number. The walls of the former convent filled with acoustical finesse and the trio sustained an evening of wondrous variety. Their tenor, alto and bass voices filled the walls with Holiday songs old and new with only the assistance of musical cues from a tiny electric piano. The talented voices seemed to melt as they rose painting the glowing walls of soft golden light reflected from a towering Christmas tree covered with tiny white lights adding to a wondrous display of holiday splendor.
