What is MIDI? - History of Electronic Music - Sabrina Pena Young

MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and allows different synthesizers to "speak" to each other. Before MIDI musicians were limited significantly in performance because their equipment could not process signals from different manufacturers. Award-winning composer Sabrina Pena Young created the "groundbreaking" animated film Libertaria: The Virtual Opera, recently completed a commission for Malletkat and comic book panels, and gave a TED Talk on "Singing Geneticists and EPIC Machinima Opera" at this past TEDxBuffalo. In her spare time she enjoys reading everything sci-fi and futurist and plays the congas.

The Call is open to composers of any nationality and age.
Pieces should be written for conducted "Ensemble Ad Libitum" which is composed of 7 musicians: Flute (also piccolo) (1 player)
